Oceans Edge beach

The Oceans Edge story starts with Simon Watkinson. Having experienced the beauty of the Welsh people and countryside on family vacations, his parents moved their young family from Manchester to Valley, Anglesey to enjoy a better quality of life (a story so many can relate to).

Simon's work with local contractors took him to London and then Bermuda where he lives with his Bermudian wife of 31 years, Maria.

Maria and Simon wanted to spend more time with Simon's family in Anglesey, so when The Waterfront came for sale in 2015, they took a huge leap of faith, taking their life savings and purchased the building and restaurant to provide themselves with work in Anglesey. For the following year Simon and Maria travelled to and from Bermuda renovating and fitting out the building. Not yet able to leave their responsibilities in Bermuda, they leased out the newly refurbished, fitted out building for a fixed period.

For the past 5 years Maria and Simon constantly heard of the hard work and dedication of restaurant manager Dave Patalong, and partner Lauren Magill back of house.

David & Lauren each have over 20+ years’ experience in the hospitality trade meeting while working at the Trearddur Bay Hotel. They were offered an opportunity to manage a city centre pub in Oxford, which was a success and won several awards whilst they were operators. Having their first child they decided to relocate home to Anglesey, where they worked at The Black Seal for 5 years.

Simon and Maria see younger versions of themselves in Lauren and Dave as they have the same values: hard work; integrity; respect for employees, appreciation of customers; and securing their families’ future. The four are excited that they can partner and continue working hard now operating Ocean’s Edge Restaurant in Trearddur Bay.

We are all super excited to serve the Anglesey community and its visitors. We look forward to serving you, reminiscing with old friends and making new memories with new friends.
